Hartek Power, a Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) company, has secured a renewable energy contract in Karnataka, expanding its footprint in the utility-scale solar and energy storage segment.
The company has received the EPC scope for a 280 MW AC / 410 MWp DC solar photovoltaic project integrated with an 80 MW / 320 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS) at Challakere, Karnataka. The total purchase price for the signed and agreed scope of work is approximately INR 353.77 crore.
Under the contract, Hartek Power will undertake end-to-end responsibilities, including design, engineering, supply, erection and commissioning of the project, along with one year of operations and maintenance services.
Commenting on the latest development, Simarpreet Singh, Executive Director and CEO of Hartek Group, said, “The contract reflects the growing maturity of India’s renewable energy market, where solar generation and storage are being deployed as integrated solutions. The project strengthens Hartek’s position in the utility-scale solar segment and marks an important step in the company’s expansion into battery energy storage.”
The project comes at a time when India is increasingly prioritising the integration of large-scale renewable generation with energy storage to ensure grid stability and reliable power supply. Battery energy storage systems are emerging as a critical solution for addressing the intermittency of solar power and enabling round-the-clock energy availability.
Challakere is rapidly emerging as a key renewable energy hub, and the project is expected to further contribute to Karnataka’s expanding clean energy capacity.
