Hartek Power has announced that it has bagged a prestigious order from the Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) for augmenting an extra high-voltage 400-KV substation project spread over three states.

Encompassing Uttar Pradesh, Haryana and Rajasthan, the project will cater to a population of about 7 crore. The scope of work of the project entails complete execution of the substation package involving conversion of fixed line reactors into switchable line reactors with the purpose of curtailing outages. The project, which will go a long way in strengthening the northern grid, is scheduled for completion by February 2020.

Under this PGCIL  project, Hartek Power will convert fixed line reactors to switchable Line reactors so that these devices can be optimally used to curtail line outages at 400-KV substations located in Ballia and Sohawal in Uttar Pradesh, Kankroli in Rajasthan and Abdullapur in Haryana.

Current-limiting devices which counter rapid variations in voltage, reactors stabilise the frequency at which electricity is transmitted and distributed by filtering the disturbances in the power system. Switchable line reactors have a distinct advantage over fixed line reactors as unlike fixed line reactors, they can better deal with the surges in voltage by deactivating the flow and cutting off the supply. Fixed line reactors, on the other hand, can only regulate the flow of voltage and are more prone to breakdowns as they have to run continuously with no provision of shutting down and disconnecting the flow.

Working on a war footing to augment the transmission and distribution infrastructure in sync with the unprecedented increase in power generation in recent years, the PGCIL is heavily investing in upgrading low and high-voltage substations to extra high-voltage substations so as to ease the pressure on transmission lines caused by rapid surges in electricity flow.

Hailing the order as an acknowledgement of Hartek Power’s unmatched expertise in executing extra high-voltage substations and transmission lines, Hartek Group Chairman and Managing Director Hartek Singh said, “It’s a big honour for us to be awarded this prestigious order by the Power Grid Corporation of India. We are gratified that we have got this opportunity to contribute to nation building by being part of such an important T&D project.”
