Union Minister of Petroleum & Natural Gas and Housing & Urban Affairs, Hardeep Singh Puri, marked a significant milestone by laying the foundation stone for HPCL’s Gas Network in the Godda-Dumka Geographical Area (GA) for PNG & CNG and inaugurating Indian Oil’s PNG project under the City Gas Distribution project in Deoghar, Jharkhand.
The event, graced by the presence of Member of Parliament, Loksabha, Nishikant Dubey, from Godda, Jharkhand, symbolized a concerted effort towards advancing clean and sustainable energy solutions in the region.
HPCL's Gas Network initiative in the Godda-Dumka GA spans across six districts, encompassing an expansive area of 14507 Sq KM and directly impacting the lives of over 14 lakh households. Backed by a substantial investment of INR 1750 crore, this transformative project is set to rejuvenate regions including Godda, Dumka, Poriyahat, Shikaripara, Jarmundi, Mahagama, Pathargama, Jamtara, Mihijam, Pakur, Litipara, and Sahibganj.
The Gas Network infrastructure, comprising 370 Km of steel and substantial MDPE, will progressively extend piped gas connections to households, while plans include the establishment of 100 CNG stations, heralding a new era of sustainable transportation solutions.
In Deoghar, Indian Oil’s PNG project, spanning three districts over 6264 Sq KM, aims to reach out to more than 6 lakh households. With an investment outlay of INR 303 crore, this initiative is poised to connect 30,000 families by 2027 through the deployment of a 350 km MDPE network. Deoghar emerges as a pioneer, becoming the first district under the Santhal Pargana division to embrace Piped Natural Gas (PNG), ushering in a profound shift towards energy accessibility and sustainability.
Over 30,000 families and 100 Commercial/Industrial institutes in Deoghar alone are set to benefit from PNG connections, unlocking access to hassle-free and economical fuel. PNG will extend its benefits to over 2 lakh families and Commercial/Industrial entities, ensuring eco-friendly, reliable, and uninterrupted fuel supply across Godda-Dumka.
These initiatives prioritize customer experience, delivering time and cost savings with seamless access to cooking fuel directly in kitchens. Moreover, they are poised to generate significant direct and indirect employment opportunities, igniting a wave of socio-economic prosperity across the region.
