Gurpratap S Boparai Joins Suzlon Energy as CEO – Manufacturing

Boparai brings with him over 32 years of rich experience in manufacturing operations, spanning a variety of sectors and multinational assignments.

Suzlon Energy has appointed Gurpratap S. Boparai as the CEO – Manufacturing. He will report directly to the Group Chief Executive Officer and has also been designated as one of the Senior Management Personnel (SMPs) of the company.

Boparai brings with him over 32 years of rich experience in manufacturing operations, spanning a variety of sectors and multinational assignments. Suzlon expects Boparai to take its manufacturing strategy to new levels of operational excellence. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with honors from Punjab Engineering College and an MBA from XLRI Jamshedpur majoring in Finance and Marketing.

His professional background includes leadership roles in companies such as Mahindra and Mahindra Limited, where he served as CEO for the Automotive Businesses in Europe. Boparai's career also features contributions at Skoda Volkswagen India, Fiat India, Iveco India, Tata Cummins, and Tata Engineering and Locomotive.

Throughout his career, Boparai has demonstrated a strong ability to manage complex manufacturing operations, from market launches and company restructuring to overseeing major investments and improving productivity and quality. He has successfully managed greenfield projects, scaled up businesses, and created cohesive teams that can make independent decisions. Notably, he played a crucial role in securing unique and groundbreaking incentives from the Maharashtra Government for Fiat and later for the VW Group.

Suzlon Energy's leadership believes that Boparai's vast experience and proven track record will be instrumental in advancing the company's manufacturing capabilities.
