The Goa State Industries Association (GSIA) revealed a new initiative to support sustainability and energy independence in the state's industrial sector. The project aims to promote the installation of Rooftop Solar Power Plants, to add 20 MW of solar capacity to industrial establishments across the region.
This venture signifies an important step towards reducing carbon emissions, enhancing energy efficiency, and fostering the adoption of renewable energy sources within Goa’s industrial landscape.
With a commitment to achieve the target of 20 MW rooftop solar capacity, GSIA aims to deliver tangible environmental benefits while simultaneously advancing the economic interests of the region.
The initiative comes at a time, with solar panel prices currently at historically low levels, presenting unprecedented economic incentives for businesses to transition towards sustainable energy sources. This favorable market environment mitigates risks associated with conventional energy price fluctuations and encourages investment in solar power infrastructure.
The success of GSIA’s initiative is underpinned by the completion of a prototype model for a 1 MW collective installation in Pilerne Industrial Estate.
Anirudh Dempo, President of GSIA, expressed his enthusiasm for the initiative, highlighting its significance in fostering sustainable industrial practices and driving positive environmental change in Goa.
Through collaborative efforts and awareness-building initiatives, GSIA is confident of achieving its goal of 20 MW of new solar capacity in the near future.
