GSES to provide training and engineering services

The round table discussion was participated by national and international solar experts, senior officials from funding agencies, public and private sector enterprises developing solar projects in India. The main topics of discussion were status and performance of large PV power plants in India, issues and challenges, best EPC and O&M practices to ensure better performance of PV power plant and how to maximize performance of solar power plants.

Mr. Dwipen Boruah, Managing Director of GSES India said, "The sudden scaling up of grid connected PV market in India through government support has created an unhealthy competition in the solar industry and unfortunate consequence is that quality standards in project design, selection of equipments, installation and even O&M practice being compromised in many instances". "A considerable number of solar power plants are reporting poor performance in India and favourable solar radiation alone cannot ensure better performance unless the system is designed and installed accurately" - Mr. Boruah added.

The outcome of the round table discussion was that quality of equipment and materials and quality training to develop skilled manpower to adopt best practices on design, engineering, installation and operation and maintenance is the key for sustainable performance and successful growth of solar power projects in India.
