Grundfos Increases its Contribution to Global Environment through Sustainable Best Practise

Grundfos Holding A/S has announced its Annual Report 2014. The report highlights Grundfos’ contribution to the global environment through its sustainable best practices followed in its offices and production facilities across the world. The Grundfos Sustainability Strategy 2012-2017, highlighted in the annual report sets the direction for the company’s sustainable efforts in six focus areas namely Sustainable Product Solutions, People Competencies, Environmental Footprint, Workplace, Community and Responsible Business Conduct.

Grundfos’ contribution to the global environment is very evident through its environment footprint in the year 2014. Grundfos set an ambitious goal in 2008 to never emit more C02 than in 2008. In 2014, Grundfos has emitted 19% less C02 than in 2008 while increasing its business 24% during the same period. In 2014, Grundfos has reduced its energy consumption by 5% compared to 2013 while it has reduced its water usage by 6% compared to the previous year. Grundfos has set a global target of reducing its water usage by 50% as well as improving water quality by 2025 compared to its usage in 2008.

The Annual Report 2014 also highlights that globally Grundfos also has increased its Women workforce in management positions by 20% in 2014 with a target of achieving 25% by 2025. Grundfos also has over 4% of employees with special needs in its global workforce.

Grundfos India has been equally active in its sustainability efforts in 2014.Some of the key initiatives undertaken in the yearwere:

  • The Grundfos Mission Energy Campaignin association with NDTV to create awareness about the importance of energy efficiency and to provide ideas to conserve energy
  • Partnering with WWF for Earth Hour 2014to encourage individuals, communities, households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights for one hour
  • Launch of the Grundfos-CDP Report titled The Business Case for Water Disclosure in India’ which promoted water stewardship and reporting among the corporate community in the country on water usage

The Grundfos Foundation in association with Grundfos India and Sunlit Futureannounced the donation of 100 pumps for 100 villages in India. The first phase of the campaign which will deliver water to 12,400 people in 28 villages in Orissa, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.
