Group Surya Commissions 500 MW G12R Solar Module Line in Odisha, Targets 1 GW Expansion
Group Surya, the parent company of Surya International Enterprise, has announced the commissioning of a fully automated 500 MW G12R solar module production line in Odisha. The company plans to scale the Bhubaneswar facility to 1 GW within 4–5 months.

Engineered for high-volume, high-efficiency production, the fully automated G12R line delivers an annual manufacturing capacity of 500 MW, operating at a rapid cycle time of 20–25 seconds per module. The Bhubaneswar facility is scheduled for expansion to 1 GW within the next 4–5 months, the company stated.
Commenting on the development, Kamlesh Kumar Singh, Group Director, Group Surya, said, “This commissioning marks a significant step in our strategic roadmap to build globally competitive manufacturing capabilities aligned with the Government of India’s Atmanirbhar Bharat vision and Make in India. By investing in advanced technologies and expanding production capacity, we are enhancing operational efficiency and long-term value creation of both the country and Group Surya.”
The module output range from 450W to 735W will serve utility-scale, commercial, and residential segments. The line is multi-technology compatible, including TOPCon, HJT, bifacial, half-cut, and dual-glass configurations, the company said.
It also delivers an ultra-low breakage rate with fewer than five defects per 10,000 modules, supported by a 100 percent automated production line integrated with AI-based inspection systems. The advanced AI-driven quality control systems enable a 97–98 percent reduction in defects, ensuring consistent adherence to global performance and reliability standards, it said.
