Grenergy Invites Bids for 1.5 TWh Annual Renewable Power Supply in Chile

Grenergy has launched a reverse auction in Chile for the sale of 1.5 TWh per year of energy from various solar and storage plants owned by the company and located in the northern and central regions of the country. The auction, managed through its subsidiary GR Power, is aimed at generators, retailers and large consumers looking to secure competitive supply in the coming years.
The auction includes the injection of 960 GWh/year of battery-stored energy during the night-time period, as well as 540 GWh of solar photovoltaic generation, with supply scheduled between the second and third quarters of 2028.
The auction structure allows participants to bid for the full volume or only part of it, as the volume is split into 20 GWh contracting units. Bidders may choose between contract tenors of 6, 8, 10, 12 or 15 years, depending on their hedging needs, stated the company.
This is the third time Grenergy has launched its own renewable energy auction. In March 2022, the company became the first clean energy producer in Latin America to carry out such an auction. This model broadens access to a wider range of generators, retailers and other corporations interested in securing clean, stable energy at competitive prices.
Since its arrival in 2012, Grenergy has turned Chile into the centre of its growth in Latin America. Its Oasis Atacama platform, in the northern part of the country, is already operating 2.5 GW of solar capacity and 14 GWh of storage. That hybrid model, developed in Atacama, is now expanding to the centre of the country with Oasis Central, which adds 1.4 GW of solar capacity and 5.1 GWh of storage, stated the company.
