G R Infraprojects Ltd. (GRIL) has bagged a Letter of Intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd for developing two major transmission projects in Madhya Pradesh.
The projects will facilitate evacuation of power from renewable energy zones in Rajgarh (1,500 MW) Phase III and Neemuch (1,000 MW) Phase II, awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) process.
The scope of work includes setting up a 2x500 MVA, 400/220 kV substation at Handiya with bus reactors, augmentation of transformation capacity at Neemuch Power Station, and creation of new bus sections and line bays for renewable energy integration. The package also involves 400 kV double-circuit transmission lines and installation of switchable line reactors at Rajgarh, Pachora and Handiya substations.
The project will be executed on a Build, Own, Operate and Transfer (BOOT) basis, with annual transmission charges of INR 3,670.73 crore and a long-term operation and maintenance period of 35 years. GRIL is expected to complete the project within 24 months from the acquisition of the project SPV.
This LOI marks another significant step in GRIL’s push into the power transmission sector, complementing India’s wider efforts to integrate large-scale renewable energy into the national grid.
