GPS Renewables, a technology and engineering firm specialising in clean fuels, has announced a strategic partnership with STEER Engineering, a firm dealing in advanced materials and extruder technology. This collaboration aims to advance the BioCNG sector through the development of a state-of-the-art bio-processor.

Under this partnership, STEER Engineering will design and build a cutting-edge bio-processor capable of processing over 2.5 tons of agro-residue and biomass feedstocks per hour. This includes materials such as paddy straw, mustard stalk, cotton stalk, maize, and Napier grass. The new processor will enhance the pre-conditioning of these feedstocks, resulting in improved biofuel yields.

As per the firm, the joint venture promises to significantly boost the efficiency of feed processing and overall output, presenting a robust solution for the BioCNG industry with a focus on 'Made in India'  innovation. This new processor is engineered to maximize performance while minimizing lifecycle costs, poised to make a transformative impact on GPS Renewables’ projects and the broader biofuel sector.

India’s gross agro-residue and surplus biomass potential is estimated at nearly 700 million tonnes annually. "This initiative is set to harness this potential, contributing to substantial waste reduction, bolstering energy security, and supporting sustainable development. The effort aligns with national goals to save up to USD 30 billion in oil import bills by 2030," said the firm in its note.

Nitin Gupta, CEO of STEER Engineering, commented, “At STEER, we aim to revolutionise the renewable energy and biofuel industries with our cutting-edge technology and expertise. Our commitment to innovation and sustainability drives us to create transformative solutions for a greener future.”

Mainak Chakraborty, CEO of GPS Renewables, added, “Our new bio-processor is designed to enhance performance and reduce costs, positioning it as a game-changer for our projects and the biofuel sector. We are eager to collaborate with STEER Engineering to advance the BioCNG landscape.”
