Govt Sanctions Mass Emission Standard for BS-VI w.e.f April, 2020

To endorse alternative clean fuels and e-vehicles the government has taken practical steps to encourage environment friendly vehicles which are innovative, guiding in proactive use of natural resources keeping in view the escalating pollution, oil consumption and expenditure in the country

The Government of India has announced that it has sanctioned mass emission standard for BS-VI throughout the country w.e.f April 01, 2020, said Mansukh L Mandaviya, Minister of State, Road Transport & Highways in a written reply to a query in Lok Sabha.

The government has also announced that the registration mark for Battery Operated Vehicles to be on a Green milieu. In an earlier announcement it said, “All Battery Operated Vehicles shall now display their registration mark in Yellow colour on Green background for transport vehicles and for all other cases, in White colour on Green background.”

The Minister also supposed that, as per the government vide S.O. 5333(E) dated October 18, 2018 it has also approved exemption to the Battery Operated Transport Vehicles and Transport Vehicles running on Ethanol and Methanol fuels from the obligations of permit.

The Government has also issued a variety of other notifications specifying mass emission standards for Compressed Natural Gas, Biodiesel(B-100), flex-fuel (E 85) or (E100) and ethanol (ED 95), LNG and flex-fuel Methanol M15 or M100, Methanol MD 95 and duel fuel vehicles, the Minister further added.
