August 19, 2014. By Moulin

The Government has notified nine power transmission projects estimated at Rs.12,272 Crore for implementation through Tariff Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) route.

The power transmitted through transmission lines depends on the system parameters of the grid. The 765 kV transmission lines generally carry around 2000 MW per circuit and 400 kV D/C twin moose line carries around 1100 MW.

The transmission system approved vide these transmission schemes includes 765 kV and 400 kV system strengthening schemes in the Northern, Western and Southern Regions and the generation linked projects in Chhattisgarh. With the commissioning of the above new transmission projects, about 4643 ckm of 765 kV lines, 1260 ckm of 400 kV lines and transformation capacity of 13000 MVA at 765 kV level and 1630 MVA at 400 kV level would be added in the system.
