Government Plans to Provide Incentives for Installation of Rooftop Solar Power Systems in Vietnam
Under the scheme, the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Vietnam recommended that investors who invest in and utilise rooftop solar power would be exempt from obtaining power operation licenses and electricity business registration certificates.

The Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) of Vietnam has proposed incentives to boost the set-up of roof-top solar power systems for self-utilisation.
Incentives would be implemented for rooftop solar power installed in residential, commercial and corporate buildings for self-consumption without selling electricity to other organisations or individuals.
Under the scheme, the MoIT (Vietnam) recommended that investors who invest in and utilise rooftop solar power would be exempt from obtaining power operation licenses and electricity business registration certificates.
The draft proposal mentions the responsibilities of ministries, agencies, local authorities, Vietnam Electricity, organisations and individuals regarding the investment and use of rooftop solar power systems.
During the latest working session with representatives from the MoIT, Vietnam Electricity (EVN) and relevant ministries and agencies, Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà stated matters pertinent to solar and renewable energy had still to be added to legal documents, it was crucial to create flexible policies in executing the scheme.
Deputy Prime Minister Trần Hồng Hà discussed with the MoIT to quickly offer to the Government and the PM mechanisms and policies to propel investment in the field and boost the use of electricity generated from roof-top power systems in daily activities along with offices and business operations.
