Government of Maharashtra signs MoU with EESL to implement trigeneration projects
EESL will implement this project under its Pay As You Save (PAYS) business model, wherein it will make the entire upfront investment of around INR 75 crore.

The Government of Maharashtra has announced that it has signed MoUs (Memoranda of Understanding) with Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) to implement gas-based trigeneration projects in selective facilities including Govt owned hospitals/guest houses/ MLA hostels / big establishments/ offices/ and government buildings in the state.
The MoUs were signed with Medical Education & Drugs Department,Public Works Department(PWD), General Administration Department GAD (Protocol), and Tribal Development Department (TDD),in the august presence of Hon'ble Chief Minister, Shri Devendra Fadnavis; Hon’ble Minister of Energy, New &Renewable Energy, Chandrashekhar Bawankule and Hon’ble Minister of PWD and Revenue, Chandrakant Dada Patil. Other dignitariespresent at the ceremony includedShri Praveen Pardeshi, Additional Chief Secretary; Sanjay Mukherjee, Principal Secretary, Medical Education & Drugs Department; Manoj Saunik, Principal Secretary and Ajit Sagani, Secretary, Public Works Department; Nandkumar, Principal Secretary, General Administration Department GAD (Protocol) and Smt Manisha Verma, Principal Secretary, Tribal Development Department.
EESL will implement this project under its Pay As You Save (PAYS) business model, wherein it will make the entire upfront investment of around INR 75 crore. The total capacity of the project is 7 MW and it will provide end-to-end service and maintenance, along with metered cooling, heating and power, for 10 years. Repayment to EESL will be done through monetisation of the energy savings. The project is estimated to bring average savings of 20% towards existing capital costs for these departments. As parts of the MoUs, EESL will conduct a detailed engineering study, following which the project is expected to start in the next six months.
Hon’ble Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis said “Maharashtra is one of the biggest contributors to the country’s GDP and we believe in making it a trillion-dollar economy by 2025. The growth is to be accelerated in a sustainable way by faster adoption of energy-efficient technologies. The signing of these MoUs with EESL is a step in that direction and another milestone in our leadership towards clean energy.”
“The intervention potential of trigeneration technology in the state’s energy scenario is immense. Increased adoption of trigeneration will help in reducing end users’ demands from the electricity grid, thereby, enabling greater grid stability and transition to cleaner fuels.” he added.
