Google has announced that it has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners to procure wind power from the 495 MW Fengmiao I offshore wind project in Taiwan.

This marks the company’s first offshore wind power PPA in Asia Pacific.

As the first project from Taiwan’s Round 3.1 auction to achieve financial close, it's an important catalyst for the local offshore wind sector.

Once operational in 2027, the project will provide reliable power to support Google's data centre, cloud region and offices in Taiwan.

“This milestone builds on our existing portfolio of energy technologies in Taiwan, including solar and geothermal, which provide reliable, cost-effective energy to meet rising demand and bring us closer to running on 24/7 carbon-free energy (CFE) on every grid where we operate,” noted a statement from Google.

In December 2024, Copenhagen Infrastructure Partners (CIP), through its Energy Transition Fund I, signed a 15-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Google in the Netherlands, under which Google will procure 250 MW of wind energy from the Zeevonk project to power its operations in the region.
