Global Power Synergy Sells 3 Percent Stake in Avaada Energy

Global Power Synergy Public Company Ltd. (GPSC), through its wholly owned subsidiary Global Renewable Synergy Company Ltd. (GRSC), has agreed to sell a 3 percent stake in India-based Avaada Energy Pvt. Ltd. (AEPL) for approximately USD 79 million. The stake is being acquired by Avaada Ventures Pvt. Ltd. (AVPL), an existing shareholder in AEPL.
According to a statement from GPSC, the transaction involves the transfer of 47.8 million shares and has received board approval. Completion of the sale is expected in the third quarter of 2025. Following the deal, GRSC’s shareholding in AEPL will reduce from 42.93 percent to 39.90 percent, while AVPL’s stake will rise to 60.10 percent..
The divestment is part of GPSC’s broader strategy to support the growth of renewable energy initiatives and improve project management efficiency in India. The company noted that the transaction will also facilitate better recognition of investment returns.
GPSC first invested in AEPL in 2021, when the platform had a total committed renewable energy capacity of 3,744 MW. As of March 2025, AEPL’s capacity has surged to 20,558 MW, reflecting the company’s aggressive expansion in India’s green energy space.
