Gujarat Industries Power Company Ltd. (GIPCL) has announced that the company has successfully commissioned the fourth phase of 150 MW out of the 600 MW solar power project located within the 2,375 MW Renewable Energy Park at Khavda, Gujarat.
With this, the total operationalised capacity at the Khavda site increased to 465 MW. The first, second and third parts capacity of 105 MW each were operationalised in June, September and October 2025, respectively.
GIPCL’s total installed capacity in solar power has now increased to 8,022 MW.
GIPCL commissioned a 75 MW Vastan Group captive solar power plant in May 2025 on Vastan Mine reclaimed land at Taluka Vastan, of Surat district. It commissioned a 100 MW solar project in the Raghanesda Solar Park in 2021. Further, 75 MW and 80 MW solar projects in Gujarat Solar Park, at Village Charanka, of Patan district, were commissioned in the years 2019 and 2017, respectively.
Additionally, the company has commissioned 112.4 MW of wind power projects in the Saurashtra and Kutch region of Gujarat. The company also has 810 MW of thermal capacity.
In August 2025, the Energy and Petrochemicals Department, Government of Gujarat, approved GIPCL’s proposal to establish a 700–750 MW Lignite-based Power Plant at Valia. GUVNL’s Board has granted in-principle approval for the procurement of power from GIPCL’s proposed 700 MW Lignite-based Power Plant for a period of 25 years, subject to approval from the Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC).
