GH2 Solar has announced signing a strategic MoU with Mormugao Port Authority (MPA), Goa, to develop a green hydrogen hub at Mormugao Port.
The agreement outlines the preparation of a detailed project report (DPR) and techno-commercial feasibility study covering green hydrogen, ammonia, and methanol production within port limits. The scope also includes development of bunkering infrastructure for green fuels, integration of renewable energy to power electrolysers and port operations, and exploration of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) solutions, stated GH2 Solar.
The initiative aims to position Mormugao Port as a key gateway for green fuel exports to Europe and the Middle East, leveraging its strategic western coastline. It also aligns with broader efforts to transition the maritime sector away from fossil fuels, as global shipping moves toward cleaner alternatives such as hydrogen-based fuels.
Following the feasibility phase, the project is expected to move toward phased implementation, supporting India’s ambitions to build large-scale green hydrogen infrastructure and reduce emissions across port operations and shipping logistics.
