German Consul General Achim Burkart has revealed that Germany is keen to join hands with the renewable energy resource-rich state Karnataka.
Blessed with abundant renewable energy resources of all forms, Karnataka, at present, ranks first in the country in terms of the renewable energy mix. As on November 2022, the Indian state used 66 percent of its power from renewable sources while in 2016, renewable energy accounted for just 13 percent of its power needs.
Calling Karnataka the ‘ideal place for renewable energy’, Burkart said that Germany is eager to partner with the state.
The announcement was made during an event in connection with EMO Hannover. Touted to be the world's leading trade fair for production technology, EMO Hannover will be held from September 18 to 23, 2023.
The event is expected to have around 2000 exhibitors and more than 116,000 visitors.
The Consul General further said that Bengaluru, being an IT and engineering hub, was expected to play a significant role in India’s renewable energy story.
He added that during the German Chancellor’s visit to India, both countries discussed the India-EU Trade Agreement.
