Genus Power Infrastructures has reported the deployment of more than 26 million smart meters globally across its projects and operations.

According to the company, over 10 million smart meters have been installed across India under various large-scale smart metering programmes. The firm noted that its experience in executing long-term utility projects has supported its involvement in smart meter deployments in several other markets.

Genus Power has been operating in the energy measurement and advanced metering segment for more than three decades. Its product and solutions portfolio includes smart electricity, gas and water meters, communication systems, Head End Systems (HES), Meter Data Management (MDM) platforms and mobile applications used by utilities for monitoring, data collection and grid management.

The company said its research and manufacturing activities are based in India, with facilities located in Jaipur, Haridwar, Guwahati and Kotputli. These six manufacturing units have a combined annual production capacity of over 18 million meters. The facilities include automated SMT lines, moulding units and testing infrastructure for meter production. According to the company, its operations and partner ecosystem support over 16,000 direct and indirect jobs.

Genus Power also reported business operations across regions including Africa, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, the Pacific and SAARC countries. The company works with utilities and system integrators to provide Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) systems designed for different regulatory and operational environments.

The firm said it is also introducing AI-based tools across manufacturing and AMI operations for data analysis, forecasting and operational monitoring, including systems for loss detection and billing management.

Commenting on the development, Jitendra Kumar Agarwal, Joint Managing Director of Genus Power Infrastructures, said, "Crossing 26 million smart meter deployment globally is more than a scale achievement; it is a testament to the trust placed in Genus by utilities across continents. As power systems transition worldwide toward digital, data‑driven grids, our mission is to enable this shift with reliable hardware, intelligent software, and proven execution capability. From India’s largest smart metering programs to diverse international markets; Genus remains committed to being the long‑term technology partner of choice for utilities seeking scalable, and future‑ready smart metering solutions.”

The company added that it undertakes projects under Capex, OpEx and Totex models for utilities implementing smart grid and metering programmes.
