UK-based clean energy developer Genesis Energy Holding has signed a strategic collaboration agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Desert Technologies Industries Factory (D-T) to jointly develop and deploy renewable energy projects across Africa.
The agreement was formalised during the Africa Energy Forum, following an earlier memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between the two companies in Dubai earlier this year.
As part of the partnership, Genesis will serve as D-T’s preferred partner for the African market, focusing on the distribution and implementation of solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage solutions. The collaboration is aimed at both mini-grid and utility-scale projects, targeting energy access and grid stability in multiple African countries.
The partnership will leverage D-T’s Sahara product, a containerised, rapidly deployable solar power system, alongside the Saudi firm’s expertise in mini-grid deployment. This will be combined with Genesis’ experience in delivering clean energy infrastructure across the continent. Genesis currently boasts a project pipeline exceeding 4.5 GW, with more than 458 MW already operational or under construction.
Both companies also plan to explore joint ventures for specific projects, as well as financing models that could include access to credit facilities backed by Saudi export agencies. The move is expected to accelerate the deployment of sustainable energy projects in Africa, supporting energy transition goals across the region.
