GE T&D India has announced the acquisition of orders worth INR 500 crore from the state-owned Power Grid Corporation of India for grid modernization initiatives. These projects are designed to facilitate the integration of renewable energy into the national electricity grid and enhance electricity transmission across the country, including in Rajasthan.

As part of the agreement, GE T&D India, a subsidiary of GE Vernova's Grid Solutions business, will supply 765 kV Power Transformers and Shunt Reactors for various transmission system projects undertaken by Power Grid Corporation of India.

These initiatives align with the government's 'Make in India' initiative, and GE T&D India is committed to supporting the modernisation of India's grid infrastructure with locally manufactured equipment.

Sandeep Zanzaria, Managing Director and CEO of GE T&D India, expressed delight in contributing to the grid modernization efforts and emphasized the company's track record of supplying 765 kV class transformers and reactors from its Power Transformer facility in Vadodara, Gujarat, to customers both in India and abroad.

GE T&D India will be responsible for the complete equipment package, including design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, and the erection and commissioning of 765 kV class transformers and reactors at designated transmission substation sites.

The order, secured in October 2023, is scheduled for equipment delivery from the beginning of 2024 until 2025. GE T&D India's commitment to the 'Make in India' initiative is demonstrated through the supply of critical grid products from its advanced manufacturing facilities located in Padappai, Hosur, Vadodara, Noida, and Pallavaram.
