GAIL GTI Celebrates 29th Foundation Day with Conclave on AI and Energy Transition

GAIL Training Institute marked its 29th anniversary with a thought-provoking conclave exploring AI’s transformative role in HR and energy transition, uniting top PSU leaders to share tech-driven L&D insights.

GAIL Training Institute (GTI), the learning and development arm of GAIL (India) Ltd., commemorated its 29th Foundation Day with a high-impact L&D Conclave at its Noida campus. Themed 'AI – The Compass to Navigate Turbulent Energy Transition,'the event spotlighted the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in shaping the future of the energy sector.

The conclave brought together senior HR leaders and industry experts to examine how AI can guide organisations through the complexities of the evolving energy landscape. In his opening remarks, Ayush Gupta, Director (HR), GAIL, underlined the urgency for companies to adopt emerging technologies while upholding ethical standards and preserving the human essence at the heart of HR practices.

A highlight of the event was a thematic panel discussion moderated by Anish De, Global Head of Energy & Natural Resources at KPMG. The panel featured an impressive lineup of HR leaders including Rashmi Govil, Director (HR), IOCL; Raj Kumar Dubey, Director (HR), BPCL;  Krishna Kumar Singh, Director (Personnel), SAIL; Krishna Kumar Thakur, Director (HR), BHEL; and Ayush Gupta from GAIL.

Together, the panelists explored how technological innovation and human-centric values can coexist and complement each other. Real-world examples such as digital employee benefit systems and direct benefit transfers to contract workers were discussed for their role in boosting transparency and operational efficiency across public sector enterprises.

The discussion also covered emerging tools like Robotic Process Automation (RPA), AI-powered learning frameworks at IOCL, BPCL’s 'HP GPT'for HR intelligence, and OIL India’s efforts to build a continuous learning culture. Each of these initiatives was cited as a blueprint for enhancing talent development and organisational resilience.

The event concluded with a consensus that technology, particularly AI and machine learning, is becoming indispensable not just for business transformation, but also for human capital development. As the energy sector undergoes rapid change, such conclaves are pivotal in encouraging collaboration, exchanging best practices, and ensuring a responsible, tech-enabled transition.
