Fourth Partner Energy (FPEL) has announced securing INR 750 crore in financing from Tata Capital to develop a wind-solar hybrid renewable energy project with battery energy storage in Maharashtra. The company has received an initial disbursement of nearly INR 375 crore against the total sanctioned amount.

The project, currently under execution, comprises 300 MWp of solar capacity, 50 MW of wind capacity and a 750 MWh battery energy storage system (BESS). It is expected to generate more than 630 million units of clean electricity annually for corporate consumers in Maharashtra, FPEL said in a statement.

It further added that the project would enable the company to supply round-the-clock (RTC) renewable energy to corporate customers amid changes in renewable energy regulations, including stricter banking provisions and Deviation Settlement Mechanism (DSM) regulations.

FPEL has secured commitments for more than half of the project's capacity. Data centres around Mumbai have also shown significant interest in hybrid renewable energy solutions to reduce the carbon intensity of their power consumption, the release stated.

Pradhyum Reddy, Head of Corporate Finance and Renewable Capital at Fourth Partner Energy, said, “The renewables industry in India has reached a stage of maturity where developers like us are increasingly focused on improving generation efficiency, supported by sharper predictability and forecasting. Integrating battery storage with hybrid renewables is an ideal solution for corporates seeking to maximise their renewable energy consumption on a 24x7 basis.”

Reddy said that the project marks FPEL's second large-scale BESS offering, following the 500 MWh storage project the company is executing in Karnataka alongside its inter-state transmission system (ISTS) project.

FPEL has more than 250 MW of operational solar assets across Katol, Bodwad and Dhule in Maharashtra. These assets supply clean power to corporate clients, including Unilever, UltraTech, Varun Beverages, United Breweries, Ajanta Pharma and Cognizant, the company stated.
