US auto vehicle manufacturer Ford Motor Co inked a concluding investment agreement with PT Vale Indonesia and China's Zhejiang Huayou Cobalt to construct nickel processing plant unit in Indonesia worth approximately USD 4.5 billion.

Indonesia has known as the largest nickel ore reserve in the world. The nation has been moving to build and evolve downstream industries for the metal from the ore reserves, with aspirations to eventually produce batteries, ev components and electric vehicles.

Febriany Eddy, Chief Executive of Vale Indonesia stated about this business deal is distinct as it strives the U.S. automanufacturer into a nickel processing business.

Christopher Smith, Ford’s Chief Government Affairs Officer discussed “Ford can help ensure that the nickel that we use in electric vehicle batteries is mined, produced within the same ESG standards as part of our business around the world”.

This is important as considerably Ford’s first investment in the Southeast Asian country.

Ford Motor Company founded in 1903 and based in USA. Ford hybrid and electric vehicles attribute progressive fuel-saving technology.

PT Vale is Indonesian based company which has started in the year 1920. It is mainly involved in nickel mining and producing. The company’s deals in mining, logistics, energy and steelmaking.

Huayou Cobalt is a Chinese high-tech entity established in 2002 and specifically in research and development, manufacturing of Li-ion battery components and cobalt materials.
