Exponent Energy Launches P4 Fast-Charging Station with 15-Minute Full Charge Capability

Exponent Energy has launched its P4 EV charging station, offering 15-minute full charges, advanced thermal management, space-saving design, and app-based access, expanding deployments across Indian cities with OEM partnerships.

Bengaluru-based Exponent Energy has unveiled its next-generation EV charging station, P4, designed to deliver a full charge in about 15 minutes while addressing key challenges in urban EV infrastructure.

The wall-mounted P4, just 400 mm wide, can be installed along the length of a parked vehicle, minimising additional space requirements, a critical advantage for crowded cities. A new 3-axis cable suspension system makes the charging cable easier to handle, automatically retracting once disconnected. The connector, built with a full-metal housing and spring-compressed axial seals used in LPG and CNG systems, is engineered to withstand water exposure.

Thermal management has also advanced, with an offboard pre-heating function added to last year’s battery cooling system. This allows batteries to be warmed in cold climates before charging, preserving efficiency and battery life. Delivering up to 40 kW of power, P4 is already being deployed in several Indian cities with OEM partners such as Montra Electric of the Murugappa Group and Omega Seiki Mobility.

Exponent has also revamped its mobile app, now featuring real-time charger locations, availability updates, and subscription-based charging sessions without the need for keycards or on-site payments.

Since its founding in 2020, the company has powered over 2,000 EVs, completed more than 800,000 charging sessions, and logged 50 million kilometers on its network. It has expanded operations to Delhi NCR, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Kolkata, and Hyderabad. In August 2024, Exponent rolled out India’s first 1 MW rapid charging solution for electric buses, one of only three such systems globally.

The World Economic Forum recently named Exponent to its 2025 Technology Pioneers list, recognizing its role in driving innovation. “We started with a minimal viable product to understand real-world usage,” said Arun Vinayak, Co-founder and CEO. “The new station integrates those learnings to improve charging speed, reliability, and ease of use," he noted.

Exponent continues to operate as a full-stack energy solutions provider, developing battery packs, charging systems, and proprietary connectors in-house. While the P4 is being scaled across India, the company has not yet announced plans for international rollout.
