The Andhra Pradesh government has inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth about INR 1.10 lakh crore with ABC Cleantech (Evren) and Axis Energy Ventures India for large-scale renewable energy projects across the state.

The agreement was executed by the state nodal agency, the New and Renewable Energy Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh (NREDCAP). Evren is a 51:49 joint venture between Brookfield Renewables and Axis Energy.

The MoU was signed between Dr. M. Kamalakara Babu, VC and MD of NREDCAP, Kataru Ravi Kumar Reddy, Chairman of ABC Cleantech (Evren), and S. Sri Murali, CEO of Axis Energy, in the presence of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu.

Under the pact, Evren will set up 6,500 MW of wind, 6,500 MW of solar, 6,500 MWh of energy storage, and facilities for producing 0.25 MTPA of green hydrogen along with 1 MTPA of its derivatives, with a total investment of about INR 1.10 lakh crore.

Power generated from these developments will be supplied to the state’s discoms and also serve emerging energy-intensive sectors such as data centres, green hydrogen production, and green manufacturing within Andhra Pradesh.

The projects are expected to significantly boost Andhra Pradesh’s renewable energy capacity and support India’s wider decarbonisation agenda.
