Essar Renewables Signs INR 20,000 Crore MoU with AP Govt to Develop 4 GW RE Projects with BESS
Essar Renewables has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh government to develop 4 GW of renewable energy projects with integrated battery storage. The company has proposed an investment of approximately INR 20,000 crore for the same.

Essar Renewables has announced that the company has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) worth about INR 20,000 crore with the Government of Andhra Pradesh to develop 4 GW of renewable energy projects integrated with Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
The MoU was signed by Ankur Kumar, CEO, Essar Renewables in the presence of N. Chandrababu Naidu, Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh at the CII Partnership Summit 2025 in Visakhapatnam.
This transformative initiative will create over 7,000 jobs and strengthen Andhra Pradesh’s position as a clean-energy leader, the company stated.
Last month, Essar Renewables signed an MoU with the Government of Gujarat to invest INR 20,000 crore in developing 4 GW of renewable energy projects, including solar, wind, and battery storage facilities across Kutch, Jamnagar, and Devbhumi Dwarka districts of Gujarat.
Earlier this year, the company signed an MoU with Maharashtra Government to develop 2 GW of renewable energy project. Under the terms of the agreement, Essar Renewables will invest approximately INR 8,000 crore in a mix of round-the-clock renewable energy projects, primarily aimed at supporting the Electric Vehicle truck charging ecosystem of Blue Energy Motors and Greenline.
Essar Renewables focuses on solar, wind, and battery energy storage projects, with plans to develop over 8 GW of capacity within five years. The company aims to expand its renewable portfolio through innovation and strategic partnerships.
