Ahmedabad-based chemical manufacturer Epigral will procure 19.80 MW of renewable power from Prozeal Green Energy’s wind-solar hybrid plant located in Gujarat through captive mode.
The company recently entered into a “Share Subscription and Shareholder’s Agreement with Prozeal Green Power, to pick up a 26 percent stake in the special purpose vehicle (SPV) – Pro-Zeal Green Power Ten.
The company will invest an amount of about INR 21.38 crore, in one or more tranches, for the subscription of a minimum of 26 percent securities of the power producer, stated the company in a regulatory filing. Prozeal Green Energy will hold a 74 percent stake in the SPV.
Epigral said that the move is in line with regulatory requirements for captive consumption. The arrangement is for meeting the company’s rising energy demands for upcoming expansion projects and to meet its commitment towards sustainability goals, it said.
Epigral, in its Business Responsibility and Sustainability Report 2023-24, has mentioned that the company has reduced reliance on fossil fuels by entering into a Joint Venture Agreement for a wind-solar hybrid project. “This project boasts a combined capacity of 18.34 MW, generating clean electricity and minimising our carbon footprint,” it said.
It further added that through renewable energy generation of 58,165.144 Mwh in FY 23-24 from solar and wind, Epigral has substituted nearly 41,646.24 TCO2e of emissions.
In February 2025, Mumbai-based Aarti Drugs partnered with Prozeal Green Energy to procure solar power through a captive arrangement, acquiring a 26.25 percent stake in an SPV for INR 8.05 crore to develop a 24.40 MWp solar power plant.
