Epic Energy’s SUN LLP Starts Trial Production at Wada Second-Life Battery Facility

Epic Energy has announced that its Joint Venture, Swachcha Urja Nirman LLP (SUN LLP), has commenced Trial Production at its Second Life Battery Assembly Plant located at Wada, Maharashtra, with effect from September 5, 2026. 

The facility is dedicated to the assembly of second-life battery energy storage systems, utilising retired lithium-ion battery cells and modules that have been assessed and repurposed for continued use in lower-intensity applications. This initiative reinforces the Company's commitment to the circular economy and sustainable energy storage solutions. 

Bhalchandra Kadam, Partner, SUN LLP, stated: "The commencement of Trial Production at our Second Life Battery Assembly Plant at Wada is an important milestone in extending the useful life of lithium-ion batteries before they enter the recycling stream. We are planning to commence Commercial Production in early October, followed by a steady ramp-up in assembly volumes over the coming quarters as we onboard our initial set of customers in the stationary storage and telecom backup segments." 

Nikhil Morsawala, Group CFO, Epic Energy, added: "The commencement of Trial Production at this Battery Assembly plant will be followed in short order by commencement of Trial Production at our Battery Recycling Plant by end of September, 2026. This will be the natural next step in our battery ecosystem strategy, in technology partnership with CMET, Hyderabad. The capital outlay for the Wada facility has been fully financed from Equity with a zero-debt component, and we expect it to contribute positively to revenue from Q3 of FY 27, with margin accretion expected as utilisation improves through FY27."
