Entry-Level EV by TVS Motor to Hit Market During Festive Season

TVS Motor Company is gearing up to launch a new entry-level electric two-wheeler, ahead of the festive season.

The new electric vehicle (EV) will be positioned below the TVS iQube and is expected to be pocket-friendly. In all probability, the new EV will likely be either a scooter or a moped, equipped with a smaller battery, a simple design and a limited set of features.
 
The EV is likely to have a hub-mounted motor like the iQube, but the battery capacity, power and torque output will be different from the iQube.  
 
The new EV is expected to cater to a diverse customer base and will be priced just below INR 1 lakh (ex-showroom).
 
The name of the EV product hasn't been decided yet. However, TVS Motor might name it Jupiter EV, after the huge popularity of Jupiter in the scooter space. There is a possibility that TVS will launch the EV model as an electric version of the XL moped.
 
However, the company is all set to launch the CNG version of Jupiter. If the new EV is launched under Jupiter, then it will be the first scooter to have a petrol, CNG and an electric powertrain.
