Maharashtra-based solar EPC company Enrich Energy has announced that it has signed a contract agreement with NTPC for a 290 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project to be deployed at NTPC’s Simhadri Thermal Power Station in Andhra Pradesh.
The contract signing ceremony was held at NTPC’s office in New Delhi, participated by senior team members from NTPC Ltd. From Enrich, Arun Tripathi (Director– Renewables Business), Snehasis Bal (Executive Director - Finance), and Vinay Vyas (CEO – EPC Business) were present.
The BESS project scope at NTPC encompasses end-to-end installation and seamless integration with existing thermal infrastructure, reflecting a full-stack execution model. It includes deployment of advanced systems such as battery units, Battery Management System (BMS), Energy Management System (EMS), SCADA, Power Conversion Systems (PCS), and inverter-duty transformers to ensure operational efficiency and grid stability.
The scope further covers 33 kV pooling switchgear, along with comprehensive protection and communication systems, auxiliary setups, and robust fire safety provisions. Additionally, the project incorporates remote monitoring and control infrastructure, backed by dedicated Operations & Maintenance (O&M) services to ensure long-term performance reliability.
Commenting on this achievement, Ishwar Chand Mangal, Board Member and Executive Chairman at Enrich, said, “This landmark BESS project further strengthens our relationship with NTPC, one of Asia’s largest power utility groups. As the grid becomes increasingly renewable-led, energy storage will play a pivotal role — and Enrich is ready to be at the forefront of this transformation.”
Ankit Kanchal, Managing Director at Enrich, added, “We thank NTPC for this opportunity. This marks Enrich’s foray into the energy storage business. We have developed BESS EPC capabilities and critical supply-chain relationship both with both local and global partners. Apart from this project, we have also received turnkey BESS orders from private C&I businesses, which are already under execution and will be commissioned soon.”
