Engie India has announced that the company has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) for the supply of 300 MW solar power with NTPC.
The project was secured under the auction conducted by REC Power Development and Consultancy (RECPDCL) following a competitive bidding process to develop 1,250 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected solar power projects-Tranche I, at a tariff of INR 2.55/kWh, in 2023. NTPC is the off-taker for the project.
“The recent signing of a 300 MW solar PV PPA between ENGIE India and NTPC reflects a shared commitment to advancing India’s climate objectives, strengthening grid resilience, and promoting sustainable development. This agreement was followed by a meaningful exchange of vision and ambition during a meeting between Gurdeep Singh, Chairman and Managing Director, NTPC and Paulo Almirante, accompanied by Mo Hoosen, Amit Jain, and Dhananjay Kumar from Engie,” the company stated in a post.
It further added that the discussion focused on deepening collaboration between ENGIE and NTPC to accelerate India’s energy transition. “At ENGIE, we view India’s clean energy journey as a global story of impact. Our focus remains clear: delivering world-class renewable solutions, investing in innovation, and building partnerships that create lasting value for communities and the planet,” it said.
Earlier, Engie India signed a PPA with PTC India for a 100 MW solar PV project. Paulo Almirante, Senior Executive Vice President at ENGIE in a social media post stated, “This 100 MW solar agreement is a clear example of what we aim to do: deliver clean, reliable energy where it matters most. India is moving fast on its energy transition and is a strategic priority for ENGIE. With over 2.3 GW of renewable capacity in operation and under construction, we’re scaling up where the energy transition is real, the ambition is shared, and the partnerships are strong.”
