Emmvee Photovoltaic Power Ltd. has unveiled a quarter-cut TOPCon solar module with a power output of 640–650 W, delivering 25–30 W more power than conventional half-cut modules of the same dimensions. The company showcased the module at the Renewable Energy India Expo 2026 in Greater Noida, alongside a new 2,000 V DC solar module.
The quarter-cut module uses TOPCon solar cells divided into four sections instead of the two sections used in conventional half-cut modules. According to Emmvee, this design reduces resistive losses in cell interconnections, allowing higher power generation without increasing the module's physical dimensions.
The module incorporates a cell-overlap design to improve the use of available surface area. It is also designed to perform better under high temperatures through a lower temperature coefficient, which helps limit power losses as operating temperatures rise.
Emmvee said that the module could maintain approximately 85 percent performance under shading conditions, compared with 75 percent for conventional modules. The smaller cell sections are intended to reduce the impact of shading and hotspots on power generation.
The company also expects the new design to improve long-term power retention. While conventional half-cut modules typically experience degradation of 1 percent in the first year and 0.4 percent annually thereafter, Emmvee said that its quarter-cut module has a degradation rate of 0.35 percent over the corresponding period.
The module retains the same general electrical specification class as the company's existing half-cut products, it said.
Emmvee also introduced a 2,000 V DC solar module designed to reduce equipment requirements and balance-of-system costs in solar power projects. The higher system voltage allows more modules to be connected in each string, potentially reducing the number of strings, cables, trenches and other electrical components required.
The configuration is expected to reduce installation time and labour requirements while lowering energy losses in DC cables. It can also reduce the number of inverters and combiner boxes required, simplifying plant design and maintenance.
Emmvee said that the 2,000 V DC module could lower the levelised cost of electricity (LCOE) by 1.8 percent.
Suhas Donthi, President and Chief Operating Officer, Emmvee, said, “At Emmvee, we have always focused on staying ahead of technology shifts and bringing advances in solar manufacturing to the market. We were among the first to begin manufacturing TOPCon technology, and with our Quarter Cut Module with Four Cut TOPCon Cell and planned 2,000V DC modules, we are continuing that approach. These developments are driven by the need to help solar project developers and customers generate more power sustainably, make better use of available space and improve overall project efficiency. As the industry evolves, our focus is on anticipating its requirements and developing solutions that deliver meaningful value over the long term.”
