Portuguese power company EDP plans to invest USD 477.99 million in solar energy plants in Brazil by 2026.

The company intends to expand its portfolio of renewable projects and will focus on distributed solar power production plants. With this investment, EDP targets to achieve an overall capacity of 530 MWp in Brazil.

This year, the nation has already surged 20 GW of power in distributed solar energy generation.

EDP presently controls solar farms in nine Brazilian states and proposes constructing 50 new plants in the nation this year. This will nearly triple its existing installed capacity to 260 MWp.

The company aims to invest USD 2.73 billion to establish 4 GWp in solar projects worldwide in the coming years.

The Brazil CEO of EDP, Joao Marques da Cruz, stated that Brazil has significant wind and solar potential, making it a priority for investment.

EDP Brasil is one of the huge Brazilian electric utility companies. It is a subsidiary of EDP - Energias de Portugal in Brazil. The company was incorporated in 1996 in São Paulo, Brazil.
