Eco Recycling to Set Up 6,000 MTPA Li-ion Battery Recycling Facility Near Mumbai

Eco Recycling Ltd., a Mumbai-based e-waste management company, is expanding its recycling capacity by 18,000 MTPA and setting up a 6,000 MTPA lithium-ion battery facility at Vasai, reinforcing its zero-debt growth strategy and alignment with India’s E-waste Management Rules, 2022.

Mumbai-based e-waste recycling company Eco Recycling Ltd. has announced that the company is expanding its e-waste recycling capacity by 18,000 MTPA. The company is also setting up a dedicated facility of 6,000 MTPA for processing lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries in a state-of-the-art 40,000 sq. ft. facility situated at Vasai, near Mumbai.

These initiatives are aligned with the E-waste Management Rules, 2022, to meet the recycling of incremental e-waste generation and target obligations of the producers. Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligation submission via the centralized EPR Portal and introduction of the Environmental Compensation (EC) provisions for non-compliance, are the future driving forces for the growth of the industry and formalisation of the sector, stated the company in a regulatory filing.

“The entire investment towards land, building, plant, and machinery has been made through internal accruals, reaffirming Ecoreco’s position as a zero-debt company. This debt-free expansion provides a strategic edge over competitors by eliminating interest and EMI obligations, ensuring stronger financial resilience and operational flexibility,” it said.

The company further asserted that these developments are expected to formalise the sector further and promote environmentally sound recycling practices while curbing pollution caused by informal operations.

“Ecoreco offers a comprehensive suite of services under the e-waste ecosystem—from collection and logistics to recycling, data destruction, refurbishment, and full EPR compliance. We operate in alignment with global best practices, serving a distinguished clientele of brand-conscious and environmentally responsible producers,” it said.

Ecoreco has recently become the first Indian e-waste recycling company to be inducted into TERRA (The Electronics Reuse and Recycling Alliance), a prestigious international network of certified recyclers holding R2, R2v3, and e-Stewards certifications, shared the company.
