Eco Recycling Expands Recycling Capacity to 25,200 MTPA for E-Waste, 6,000 MTPA for Li-ion Battery
Eco Recycling Ltd., a Mumbai-based e-waste management company, has expanded its e-waste recycling capacity by 18,000 MTPA, taking its total capacity to 25,200 MTPA and has also set up a 6,000 MTPA lithium-ion battery recycling facility at Vasai, near Mumbai, said the company's CMD B.K. Soni.

Mumbai-based e-waste recycling company Eco Recycling Ltd. has announced that the company has expanded its e-waste recycling capacity by 18,000 MTPA. The company has also set up a dedicated facility of 6,000 MTPA for processing lithium-ion (Li-ion) batteries in a state-of-the-art 40,000 sq. ft. facility situated at Vasai, near Mumbai.
“With this increase, the company’s current recycling capacity has increased to 25,200 for E-waste and 6,000 for Li-ion battery recycling,” said B.K. Soni, Chairman and MD, Eco Recycling Ltd., to Energetica India.
He further stated that these initiatives are aligned with the E-waste Management Rules, 2022, to meet the recycling of incremental e-waste generation and target obligations of the producers. “Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) obligation submission via the centralised EPR Portal and introduction of the Environmental Compensation (EC) provisions for non-compliance are the future driving forces for the growth of the industry and formalisation of the sector.”
Talking about the battery recycling fund, Soni said that pre-processing of Li-ion is going on in the facility. “The entire project has been set up out of internal accruals and therefore, we have a competitive edge above others who have set up such a project out of borrowed funds,” he asserted.
Soni further highlighted hydrometallurgy as the preferred technology for Li-ion battery recycling. “Ecoreco offers a comprehensive suite of services under the e-waste ecosystem—from collection and logistics to recycling, data destruction, refurbishment, and full EPR compliance. We operate in alignment with global best practices, serving a distinguished clientele of brand-conscious and environmentally responsible producers,” he said.
Ecoreco has recently become the first Indian e-waste recycling company to be inducted into TERRA (The Electronics Reuse and Recycling Alliance), a prestigious international network of certified recyclers holding R2, R2v3, and e-Stewards certifications, shared Soni.
