ECE Solar has announced a strategic collaboration with leading German technology organisations Von Ardenne and the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (Fraunhofer ISE) to strengthen advanced solar cell manufacturing capabilities in India.
The partnership marks a significant step in ECE Solar’s transition from a regional clean energy initiative into a future-focused renewable energy company committed to innovation, sustainability, and long-term value creation, the company stated.
Through this collaboration, ECE Solar aims to build a strong foundation for potential cooperation in next-generation photovoltaic technologies, including Heterojunction (HJT) solar cells, Back Contact (xBC) technologies, perovskite solar cells, and Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) using MorphoColor solutions, the company said.
Von Ardenne and Fraunhofer ISE bring deep expertise in solar equipment, research, and advanced manufacturing processes, which is expected to support ECE Solar in adopting globally competitive technologies and best practices.
ECE has a current product capacity of about 450 MW and is preparing to launch a 2 GW fully automatic TOPCon solar module unit, stated the company, further adding that it plans to set up a 3 GW PV cell unit and a 3 GW solar wafer unit by 2028. “With this full integration, ECE will have more control over its supply chain and strengthen its leadership in solar manufacturing.”
Highlighting the company’s upstream components manufacturing plan, the company’s Managing Director Amit Arorkar told Energetica India during an exclusive interaction at the REI Expo 2025, “By 2027-28, we aim to become a fully integrated solar manufacturing company with a total integrated capacity of 15 GW – 5 GW of wafers, 5 GW of cells and 5 GW of modules capacity.”
He further added that the company is also planning to enter the battery energy storage systems (BESS) manufacturing sector in the near future.
