Eastman Auto & Power Ltd. has operationalised an 800 MW (0.80 GW) solar PV panel and module manufacturing facility in Sonipat, strengthening India’s domestic solar manufacturing capabilities and supporting the government’s push for self-reliance in renewable energy.
The new facility marks a significant milestone in Eastman’s solar manufacturing journey and positions the company as a backward-integrated solar solutions provider, offering capabilities across solar PV panels and modules, grid-tie, off-grid and hybrid inverters, as well as advanced energy storage batteries.
With a focus on solar-plus-storage systems, the company aims to deliver integrated energy solutions combining solar generation with energy storage, enabling reliable and clean power access. The solutions are designed to support residential, commercial and industrial customers with turnkey solar installations.
Eastman’s India-made solar solutions include Domestic Content Requirement (DCR)-compliant products, helping simplify regulatory compliance while ensuring compatibility across system components, reducing installation costs and improving after-sales service reliability.
Commenting on the development, Shekhar Singal, Managing Director of Eastman Auto & Power Ltd., said the company is focused on building a strong domestic solar manufacturing ecosystem aligned with the Make in India initiative.
He added that integrating solar generation with advanced energy storage will help accelerate rooftop solar adoption under schemes such as PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana, while delivering reliable and cost-effective energy solutions to consumers.
The company also emphasised its ‘Made in India’ manufacturing strategy, prioritising local sourcing to reduce dependence on imported solar components. Solar panels and modules produced at the Sonipat facility comply with Domestic Content Requirement norms and standards of the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, enabling eligibility for government-supported solar programmes.
Through expanded domestic manufacturing and integrated solar-plus-storage solutions, Eastman aims to contribute to the growth of India’s clean energy sector and the country’s long-term sustainability goals.
