DGMS confers 6 Awards to JOCCM for Operational Excellence in Safety

Independent audit team of experts carried out safety inspection of all mines in the region & declared the awards.

Director General of Mines Safety conferred six awards to Jindal Open Cast Coal Mines (JOCCM) for its exemplary operational excellence in the ‘Annual Mines Safety Fortnight Competitions’ organized by South Eastern Coalfields Limited (SECL).

JOCCM bagged the awards in various categories including the first prize under the category of ‘Mines Lighting Standards’, ‘Safety Worker competition’ and ‘Dumper Operator Trade Test Standards’ for coal mining operation in Tamnar, Raigarh in the state of Chhattisgarh.

An independent multidisciplinary audit team of experts carried out a vigorous, systematic and thorough safety inspection of all mines in the region and declared these awards.  The competition is aimed at achieving zero accident in the mining industry. The six awards won by JOCCM are as following:

1.     First Prize - Mines Lighting Standards

2.     First Prize - Safest Worker Competition

3.     First Prize - Dumper Operator Trade Test Standards

4.     Second Prize - Safety Publicity & Propaganda

5.     Second Prize - Overall Mines Safety Performance (Mega Mines Category)

6.     Third Prize - Best Innovations Competition

The competition was part of  the  ‘Annual Mines Safety Week’ celebrated by all the mines operating in Bilaspur, Jabalpur& Raigarh Region under the aegis of Directorate General of Mines Safety (DGMS), Ministry of Labour & Employment, and Government of India (GOI) to propagate the message of safety at the workplace and inculcate safe mining practices amongst the mine workers. During this celebration, competitions are organized amongst the workers of the participating mines on different safety aspects. Besides, the safety performances of individual mines are evaluated by an independent team expert under the guidance of the Directorate of Mines Safety.
