Delhi To Introduce New 100 Electric Buses by April

Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) is anticipated to introduce 100 new electric buses to be executed by the month of March-end or the first week of April.

Delhi Transport Commissioner Ashish Kundra visited Tata Motors' Lucknow plant to monitor the buses. In February month, DTC Managing Director Shilpa Shinde reached Karnataka to check and observe the prototype models.

Provision of security characteristics including CCTV cameras and emergency buttons, these buses will run over the national capital's roads possibly in the coming three to four weeks after the completion of the configuration and registration process.

100 new electric buses will be the first of 1,500 that will be initiated into the Transport department's fleet by the year-end of 2023, proceeding their overall number to 1,800.

Conveying a blueprint for the acquisition of electric buses, the government’s plan is to purchase such vehicles in the year 2023.

Consequently, there are around 7,200 buses on the city roads whereas the DTC uses 3,900 buses and the bunch buses run around 3,300. Simultaneously, 2,600 buses will be executed on the roads in the coming year ahead.
