Delhi Peak Power Demand Expected to Cross 7,400 Mw This Summer: BSES

BSESE has announced the it estimates Delhi’s peak power demand is to cross 7,400 MW in the summer months.

Apart from making sufficient power availability provisions, BSES discoms capitalized Rs 825 crore in 2018-2019 and increase the network capacity by around 750 Mega Volt Ampee (MVA).

BSES discoms installed and amplified around 600 distribution transformers and laid over 650 Kms of cable to reinforce the network, the statement said.

Furthermore, BSES is also working with generation and transmission companies to guarantee that the complete generation, transmission and distribution system is allied to meet the summer load.

Peak power demand in BRPL area of south and west Delhi, which had reached 3,081 Mw last summer is expected to touch around 3,200 Mw this year. In BYPL area of east and central Delhi, the peak power demand, which had reached 1,561 Mw last year, is expected to touch around 1,640 Mw.

Besides preventive maintenance, BSES conducted extensive predictive checks to identify hot-spots or to pre-determine potential faults and to take remedial measures, the company said.
