Delhi Lieutenant-Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu has approved the transfer of land to the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) for the installation of a lift at Rohini West Metro Station, providing improved accessibility for daily commuters and visitors to BSA Hospital.
The land, owned by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA), was transferred following the intervention of the Lieutenant-Governor after an earlier proposal was rejected by the land and building department. The department had cited the March 15, 2024 policy governing land transfers, stating that DMRC did not fall within the eligibility criteria outlined under the framework.
The approval is expected to facilitate the installation of the lift at the metro station, enhancing convenience for elderly passengers, persons with disabilities, patients, and attendants travelling to and from BSA Hospital.
In another key decision aimed at strengthening Delhi's renewable energy infrastructure, the Lieutenant-Governor approved the allotment of nine bighas of gram sabha land in Issapur village, located in the South West district, for the establishment of a 66 KV/11 KV solar pooling substation.
The land, which belongs to the DDA, has been allotted to the power department on a lease basis for 99 years at no cost. Officials said the project will help address growing grid capacity requirements arising from expanding solar energy generation in rural parts of the national capital.
According to power distribution utility BSES Rajdhani Power Ltd. (BRPL), applications for solar power connections have increased significantly in agricultural areas around the Issapur-Dhansa belt. The proposed substation is expected to support the integration of renewable energy into the grid and improve power evacuation capacity for ground-mounted solar projects being developed on privately owned agricultural land.
