Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has flagged off 400 new electric buses under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interconnector (DEVi) initiative to improve Delhi’s last mile connectivity.

“Where the METRO doesn’t go, DEVi will – 400 EV buses to ensure Delhi’s last-mile connectivity. A new chapter written in Delhi’s journey towards clean transport,” she said.

The DEVi fleet aims to bridge last-mile connectivity gaps by linking metro stations with nearby neighbourhoods in East and West Delhi, including areas like Ghazipur, Vinod Nagar East, and Nangloi. Each bus has 23 seats of which 6 are reserved for women and space for 13 standing passengers.

Equipped with modern Intelligent Transport Management System (ITMS) features, the buses include GPS tracking, automatic passenger counters, digital route displays, voice announcements, CCTV cameras, panic buttons, wheelchair ramps, and adjustable floors for enhanced accessibility.

Gupta announced that 2,080 more e-buses will join the fleet by year-end, pushing toward the goal of a 100 percent electric public transport system by next year. “Vehicles contribute to 45 percent of Delhi’s pollution. We are committed to reversing that,” she said, adding that a comprehensive Electric Vehicle (EV) policy – Delhi EV Policy 2.0, is in the works to further modernise the city’s transport.
