Delhi Govt Approves INR 30,000 Subsidy for 3 kW Rooftop Solar Systems Under PM Surya Ghar
The Delhi government has approved an additional INR 30,000 subsidy for 3 kW rooftop solar installations under the new 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana State Top-Up', raising the total subsidy to INR 1.08 lakh. With an outlay of INR 50 crore, the state aims 2.3 lakh residential rooftop solar installations over the next 3 years.

The Government of Delhi in its latest cabinet meeting has approved an additional subsidy of INR 30,000 for the installation of 3 kW rooftop solar panels under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana. This increases the total subsidy available for a 3 kW residential rooftop solar plants to INR 1.08 lakh.
The state government has introduced the 'PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana State Top-Up' scheme, aiming to make solar adoption more affordable and accessible for residents. As part of this initiative, the statement government will provide an additional subsidy of INR 10,000/kW with the maximum subsidy being capped at INR 30,000 for a 3 kW solar system.
The central government under the PM Surya Ghar Yojana offers subsidy of INR 30,000 for 1 kW, INR 60,000 for 2 kW and INR 78,000 for a 3 kW rooftop solar system. And, this additional state subsidy will make the scheme even more lucrative.
Chief Minister Rekha Gupta highlighted that the combined subsidy from the Centre and State, now totalling INR 1.08 lakh, will allow households to install solar systems at zero upfront cost, potentially saving around INR 4,200 per month on electricity bills.
A budget of INR 50 crore has been allocated for the scheme. The Delhi government is targeting to install rooftop solar systems on 2.3 lakh residential houses over the next three years.
The government is also collaborating with financial institutions to provide easy loan options for the remaining installation cost, estimated at INR 90,000 for a 3 kW system.
