Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced that the Delhi government will offer subsidies to encourage electric vehicle (EV) adoption under its upcoming EV policy, aimed at transforming all vehicles, including private ones, into electric.
Speaking at the valedictory session of the Aironomics 2025 convention, Gupta highlighted the government’s broader efforts to combat air pollution, including year-round deployment of 1,000 water sprinklers to control dust and minimise traffic disruptions by operating them during early morning and late-night hours.
She also detailed plans to roll out integrated machines for mechanical road sweeping, water sprinkling, and litter collection across all 70 Assembly constituencies. Urging citizens to support initiatives such as biomass burning prevention, green cover expansion, and EV adoption, Gupta emphasised collective responsibility for a cleaner, greener Delhi.
Former New and Renewable Energy Secretary Bhupinder Bhalla called for alignment between central and state efforts to tackle Delhi’s air pollution, noting growing momentum and cooperation among governing bodies. Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) Chairman Sanjiv Kumar stressed the need for cost-effective, real-time pollution monitoring to enable timely interventions.
