Delhi CM Rekha Gupta Lays Foundation Stone for 55.5 MW/111 MWh BESS Projects
Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for key power infrastructure projects, including underground cabling in Chandni Chowk, a 66/11 kV, 63 MVA GIS indoor grid at Mandoli, and four utility-scale BESS, which will add 55.5 MW/111 MWh of capacity across South and West Delhi.

Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for key power infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening the capital’s electricity network and building a future-ready grid.
The initiatives include shifting overhead cables underground in Chandni Chowk, laying the foundation stone for BYPL’s 66/11 kV, 63 MVA GIS Indoor Grid at Mandoli, and laying the foundation stones for four standalone utility-scale Battery Energy Storage Systems across South and West Delhi, totalling 55.5 MW / 111 MWh.
The ceremony was attended by Delhi Power Minister Ashish Sood, Member of Parliament Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Councillor Suman Kumar Gupta, along with senior officials, local representatives, and residents.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said that the projects reflect the government’s commitment to creating a modern, resilient, and sustainable power ecosystem. She emphasised that robust infrastructure is essential for supporting Delhi’s growing energy demand and enabling long-term economic development.
Implemented by BSES in close coordination with the Government of Delhi, the projects form part of a broader strategy to enhance grid reliability, reduce outages, and integrate advanced energy storage solutions, the company said.
