Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta laid the foundation stone for a modern 66kV Grid Substation at Mubarakpur Dabas, a move aimed at strengthening the city’s power distribution network.
The substation, developed in partnership with Tata Power-DDL, will cater to rising electricity demand in Karala, Mubarakpur, and surrounding North-West Delhi areas, while supporting ongoing urban development.
The ceremony was attended by Ashish Sood, Minister for Home, Power, Urban Development, Education, Higher Education, and Training and Technical Education, along with senior government officials, Tata Power-DDL CEO Dwijadas Basak, company leadership, and local community representatives.
The new substation will feature 66kV indoor GIS technology, two 66/11kV transformers of 50 MVA each, advanced protection systems, and a SCADA-enabled monitoring system for real-time fault detection. The INR 78 Crore project, spread over 2,171 sq. meters, is expected to improve power reliability, reduce outages and voltage fluctuations, and support households, businesses, and small-scale industries in Outer Delhi.
Tata Power-DDL, a joint venture of Tata Power and the Delhi government, serves around nine million consumers in North Delhi. The company has set benchmarks in efficiency, reducing Aggregate Technical and Commercial (AT&C) losses to 5.5 percent from 53 percent in 2002.
