Danfoss India Unveils iC7 Ultra Low Harmonics Drive

Danfoss India introduced its next-generation iC7 Ultra Low Harmonics Drive for clean electricity, energy efficiency and industrial resilience to decarbonise the country’s industrial footprint. The product was premiered at SEMICON India 2026, New Delhi, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and the 25th CII Energy Efficiency Summit, Hyderabad, in the presence of Tejpreet Singh Chopra, Chairman, CII Energy Efficiency Council; and Founder and Chairman, Bharat Light & Power. 

India’s rapid transition into a global high-tech manufacturing hub demands an uncompromised, hyper-efficient power grid. Electrical distortion and harmonic waste cost industrial facilities millions in wasted power, equipment downtime and unnecessary Scope 2 emissions. The premiering of the iC7 drive directly targets these systemic inefficiencies, providing a scalable solution to optimise how Indian manufacturing consumes clean energy. 

The technology is designed to reduce industrial energy waste at the source through an integrated active front-end rectifier, which lowers Total Harmonic Distortion of Current (THDi) to below 3 percent while maintaining a power factor of 1.0. By reducing electrical distortion, the solution can minimise power losses across factory networks and support industrial energy-efficiency efforts. It also enables facilities to operate with transformers and backup generators that are 10 percent to 25 percent smaller without compromising performance or operational resilience. 

This right-sizing can reduce material requirements, capital expenditure and the embodied carbon associated with new industrial infrastructure. 

In addition, the drive helps protect connected machinery from thermal stress and premature failure, supporting the reliability requirements of high-tech industries such as semiconductor manufacturing and advanced electronics.
